The Blind Cannot Lead the Blind
Are we trying to heal the world with the same thinking that broke it? In this article, I explore why history continues to repeat itself when we attempt to solve hatred with hatred, division with more division, and darkness with more darkness. We cannot resurrect the dead to dispense justice, but we can resurrect the bitterness, resentment, and conflict they left behind. Christ taught that a tree is known by its fruit. If our solutions continue to produce division, broken families, and endless outrage, perhaps we've been offering rotten fruit to a false god. The only path forward begins by confronting the darkness within ourselves and choosing truth, forgiveness, and the Light over resentment and tribalism.

The Blind Cannot Lead the Blind
There is a question almost no one is asking.
What if the people trying to save society are the very reason it continues to decay?
Not because they are evil people God created. But because of the evil inside of them that darkness created.
Because they are attempting to solve problems from the same darkness that created those problems in the first place.
Christ warned us that the blind cannot lead the blind. If they do, both fall into the ditch.
That warning wasn't merely about religion.
It was about the human condition.
A mind consumed by resentment cannot create peace.
A heart consumed by fear cannot create courage.
A people consumed by division cannot produce unity.
Darkness has only one product.
More darkness.
Fighting Hell with Hell
Our civilization has become obsessed with correcting yesterday.
We continually reopen old wounds.
We relive ancient conflicts.
We search history for new enemies.
We condemn.
We accuse.
We divide.
We protest.
We demand vengeance.
And we call it progress.
But ask yourself...
Has any of it produced peace?
Has it produced stronger families?
Greater trust?
More forgiveness?
More unity?
Or has every new solution simply produced another crisis that requires another solution?
The fruit answers the question.
The fruit is division.
The fruit is resentment.
The fruit is fear.
The fruit is families turning against one another.
The fruit is neighbors viewing each other with suspicion.
The fruit is children growing up believing everyone belongs to an opposing tribe.
Christ taught that every tree is known by its fruit.
If the fruit keeps becoming more bitter...
Perhaps we've been eating from the wrong tree.
The Darkness Multiplies Itself
Darkness is deceptive.
It rarely presents itself as darkness.
It almost always arrives wearing the clothing of compassion.
Justice.
Progress.
Safety.
Equality.
Righteousness.
It tells us that this time hatred will produce love.
That this time anger will produce peace.
That this time resentment will create healing.
But hell has never produced heaven.
It simply changes its clothing.
Every generation believes its anger is different.
History says otherwise.
The names change.
The slogans change.
The banners change.
The emotions never do.
It just builds on itself.
The Dead Cannot Receive Justice
One of the strangest ideas of our age is that we can somehow repair the past by keeping its conflicts alive forever.
The men who committed those wrongs are gone.
Their victims are gone.
No court can summon them.
No sentence can be carried out.
No verdict can restore what was lost.
The dead cannot be brought back to receive justice.
But something else can be resurrected.
Hatred.
Resentment.
Division.
Bitterness.
Those things can be brought back to life.
Fed.
Protected.
Celebrated.
Passed from one generation to the next until children inherit anger they never created, but breathe life into it for the false god of righteousness.
Instead of burying the darkness, we become its caretakers.
We breathe life into what should have remained buried under a false notion of justice.
But in worshiping this false god, people can't see what they're doing.
The Altar of the False God
Every age has its idols.
Some worshiped statues.
Some worshiped kings.
Others worshiped wealth.
All worshiped ideas.
Today many worship something less obvious.
Conflict itself.
Outrage.
Identity.
Political tribe.
Social approval.
Activism without self-examination.
Hate while calling it love. Calling it justice.
The offering placed upon that altar is always the same.
Another relationship destroyed.
Another family divided.
Another child taught to hate.
Another enemy created.
Another accusation.
Another protest.
Another reason to remain angry.
These are rotten fruit.
And rotten fruit is the only offering a rotten tree can produce.
The idol (false god) is pleased because it asks for one thing above all else:
Keep the conflict alive.
Never forgive.
Never heal.
Never let the wound close.
Because if peace comes...
The idol (false god) loses those who worship it.
Blindness
The tragedy isn't that people want to improve the world.
The tragedy is that many attempt to improve it while remaining blind to the darkness within themselves.
They study systems.
They study history.
They study politics.
They study economics.
They join movements with the belief that they are doing right.
They attempt to bring equality without understanding what that is and how it's dispensed.
Because they never examine the heart that is doing the studying.
Christ continually pointed inward before outward.
Remove the beam from your own eye...
Then you will see clearly.
Without that inner transformation, every solution becomes another form of the original problem.
Hatred wearing a different uniform.
Pride carrying a different flag.
Fear speaking a different language.
Under popular movements promising fairness and equity, but giving neither.
Because we falsely judge “good” as what feels right.
Discernment without God. Fixing problems with broken tools.
Junk food makes you feel good. Alcohol and drugs ease the pain.
And activism does the same.
Hell proposing itself as the cure for hell.
There Is Another Way
The Kingdom of God has never spread through resentment.
It has never spread through revenge.
It has never spread by creating new enemies.
Light does not negotiate with darkness.
Neither does it imitate it.
It simply shines.
That is why Christ could say,
"Love your enemies."
Not because evil should be ignored.
But because hatred makes us resemble the very thing we claim to oppose.
The blind cannot heal blindness.
Darkness cannot cast out darkness.
A rotten tree cannot produce good fruit.
If we truly desire a different future, we must stop asking how to defeat one another.
Instead we must ask the question almost no one asks anymore:
What darkness still lives in me?
Because nations are changed the same way people are changed.
Not by feeding yesterday's hatred.
But by allowing the Light of God to expose it, remove it, and replace it with something entirely different.
That is how hell ends.
That is how a civilization begins again.
