Christ Came to Divide
Christ did not come to unite truth with lies, light with darkness, or God with ego. He came to divide them. In a world consumed by emotionalism, confusion, and self-identification with thoughts and feelings, Christ calls us to something higher: a choice between truth and falsehood, between what is right and what merely feels right. Just as the Tower of Babel represented mankind's prideful attempt to elevate itself apart from God, modern society has become increasingly disconnected from truth while celebrating darkness disguised as virtue. This post explores Christ's warning that His coming would divide even families, not because He sought conflict, but because truth naturally separates itself from deception. It is a call to be born again of the Father, to let go of ego and emotional attachment, and to choose the light of God over the darkness of self.

Christ Came to Divide
Most people think Jesus came to unite everyone.
Yet Christ Himself said:
"Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword."
He went even further and said that His coming would divide families. Father against son. Mother against daughter. Members of the same household would find themselves on opposite sides.
Why?
Because Christ did not come to unite truth with falsehood.
He did not come to unite light with darkness.
He did not come to unite God with ego.
He came to divide them.
The sword Christ spoke of was not a weapon of violence. It was the dividing line between what is of God and what is not. It was the line between truth and illusion, between righteousness and self-deception, between light and darkness. Jesus knew that when truth enters a world built on lies, division follows. Not because truth is the enemy, but because darkness resists being exposed.
We are living in such a time right now.
People are wrapped up in emotionalism. They identify with every thought that enters their mind and every feeling that passes through them. They believe that because they feel something strongly, it must be true. They believe that because something sounds compassionate, it must be good.
But darkness rarely presents itself as darkness.
Darkness comes wrapped in beautiful packaging.
Darkness speaks the language of compassion while producing confusion.
Darkness speaks the language of tolerance while producing weakness.
Darkness speaks the language of love while producing division.
The deception is not that evil looks evil.
The deception is that evil disguises itself as good.
People often say, "I care about you, so I don't want you doing this or that."
Perhaps they mean well.
Perhaps they don't.
But who are you to stand between another person and the lessons God may have for them?
How do you know that struggle isn't exactly what they need?
How do you know that failure isn't the very thing that might bring them to repentance?
How do you know that pain isn't what finally causes them to seek God?
We want to play God in other people's lives because it feeds something within us.
The ego loves control.
The ego loves to insert itself into situations that do not belong to it.
The ego wants to manage, correct, direct, and manipulate.
It gets a thrill from involvement.
It gets a thrill from being needed.
It gets a thrill from believing it knows what is best for everyone else.
But Christ constantly pointed people back to themselves.
The beam in your own eye.
Your own heart.
Your own repentance.
Your own relationship with God.
The modern world says, "Fix them."
Christ says, "Repent."
The modern world says, "Change society."
Christ says, "Be born again."
The modern world says, "Express yourself."
Christ says, "Deny yourself."
Every person born of woman must eventually be born again of the Father.
The first birth places us into a world of separation, fear, imagination, identity, and ego.
The second birth awakens us to truth.
This is why Christ divides.
His presence exposes what is false.
His truth reveals what is hidden.
His light uncovers darkness.
And every person must choose.
The same choice exists today as it did two thousand years ago.
Will you identify with your thoughts?
Or will you identify with truth?
Will you follow your emotions?
Or will you follow what is right?
Will you serve the ego?
Or will you serve God?
The Tower of Babel was humanity united around pride.
God divided them.
Christ likewise divides what should never have been united in the first place.
Sometimes division is necessary before true unity can exist.
A surgeon cuts before healing.
A farmer separates wheat from chaff.
Light separates itself from darkness.
Truth separates itself from lies.
And Christ separates those who seek God from those who seek themselves.
The world believes unity is the highest good.
God values truth above false unity.
There is honor among thieves.
There is agreement among the corrupt.
There is unity among those walking in darkness.
But Christ did not come to preserve a false peace.
He came to destroy it.
He came with a sword.
A sword that cuts through illusion.
A sword that exposes darkness.
A sword that calls every man and woman to choose between the kingdom of God and the kingdom of self.
Choose Light.
